I obtained my medical doctor degree at the Medical College of the Rosario National University, Argentina, in 1982 and then specialized in cardiology at the Rosario Emergency Hospital “Dr. Clemente Alvarez”. I matriculated as a cardiologist in 1988 and as an echocardiography specialist level three in 1991. In 2013 the Latin American Society of Hypertension granted me the title of Hypertension Specialist.
Currently, I am the Head of the Cardiovascular Research Center at the Rosario British Sanatorium and Staff of the Cardiovascular Institute at the Rosario British Sanatorium. My main points of interest are hypertension and cardiovascular organ damage, cardiometabolic diseases, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
I have been a speaker at many international meetings developed and the world, including almost all main Latin-American cities. I have published more than 150 original papers and reviews as a main author in peer-reviewed national and international indexed journals and have published five books.
I was President of the Argentina Hypertension Society between 2011-2013, President of the Argentina Cardiology Federation in 2017, and Governor of the Argentina Chapter of the American College of Cardiology in 2020. I was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Latin-American Hypertension Society from 2013 to 2019. I have been Coordinator of the Epidemiology and Cardiovascular Prevention Council of the Interamerican Society of Cardiology between 2019 – 2021. Currently, I am Chief Editor of the Argentina Federation of Cardiology Journal, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Argentina Federation of Cardiology, Argentina Governor of the Interamerican Society of Hypertension, Deputy Chair of the International Society of Hypertension Americas Regional Advisory Group, Science Advisor InterAmerican Heart Foundation and Member at Large Board of Directors InterAmerican Heart Foundation.
I am also a member of the International Society of Hypertension, an Overseas Affiliated Member of the British and Irish Hypertension Society, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Interamerican Society of Cardiology, an Honorary Member of the Central America and Caribbean Hypertension Society and Emeritus Member of the Spanish Cardiology Society. I am also a member of the Editorial Board of Blood Pressure, American Journal of Preventive Cardiology, High Blood Pressure, and Cardiovascular Prevention, Hipertensiòn y Riesgo Vascular, and Salud(i)Ciencia.
