President’s Section

Dear ISCP friends,

As we approach the end of 2025, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for having had the honour to serve as President of ISCP. This year has been particularly meaningful, and I am proud of what we have achieved together.

Our 30th Annual Scientific Meeting, held on 25–26 September in Oviedo, Spain, was a stunning success. The meeting — the second time our Society has convened in Spain — drew global participation and brought together international experts and members from around the world.

Thanks to the active contributions and engagement of our community, the congress offered a rich scientific programme covering coronary disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, diabetes, cardio-oncology and cutting-edge pharmacotherapy innovations.

Beyond the Annual Meeting, ISCP continued to deliver educational and scientific value throughout 2025:

  • We offered a series of live webinars and online learning modules — for instance, sessions on anticoagulation stewardship, management of iron deficiency in heart failure, real-world evidence for atrial fibrillation and VTE, Lp(a) challenges in primary prevention, to name a few.

  • Our official journal, the ECR, published its latest volume with open-access articles, providing expert reviews and insights into the evolving landscape of cardiovascular pharmacotherapy.

  • We continued to support and endorse specialised educational programmes and workshops — including international events in Austria and Romania, as well as other endorsed regional cardiology congresses and meetings.

These accomplishments reflect the dedication, expertise and collaborative spirit that define ISCP. The success of our 2025 activities has strengthened our global network and reinforced our shared mission to advance cardiovascular pharmacotherapy for the benefit of patients worldwide.

As I step down from the presidency, I would like to thank each one of you for your support, enthusiasm and active participation. I leave with full confidence that ISCP — under new leadership — will continue to grow, innovate and make meaningful impact in the years ahead.

I wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a healthy, inspiring, and prosperous New Year. May 2026 bring new opportunities for knowledge, collaboration and progress for us all.

With warmest regards,

Prof Pablo Avanzas
