

Román Freixa is ISCP Governor for Spain. He is a clinical cardiologist passionate about providing comprehensive care to individuals with cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Freixas Pamias obtained his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1993 and became a specialist in Cardiology in 1998. He holds a Master’s degree in Cardiology and a Master’s in the Management of Clinical Care Units, as well as a PhD in Medicine from the same university.
He currently serves as Head of the Cardiology Department at the Moisès Broggi Hospital Complex (metropolitan area of Barcelona), which serves a population of approximately 425,000 inhabitants and is recognized for its extensive clinical activity. In recent years, he has led the implementation of a new integrated cardiology care model across the region, delivering services directly within primary care centers with excellent outcomes.
He is the author of several publications and conference presentations. His main areas of interest include heart failure, valvular heart disease, secondary prevention in patients with ischemic heart disease, and integrated cardiology care across healthcare levels.
