Antoni Martínez-Rubio was born in Sabadell (Barcelona) in 1961. He studied Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona (UAB) (Spain) and specialized in Internal Medicine and in Cardiology in the Univ. Hospitals of Düsseldorf and of Münster (Germany), where he also got his Doctor medicinae (“Magna cum laude“). He is Magister in Health Management (Univ. Autònoma of Barcelona) and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and of the European Society of Cardiology.
Affiliations / Memberships
From 9/1996 to 2/2003 he was staff cardiologist at the Department of Cardiology of the Hospital de la Sta. Creu i St. Pau in Barcelona.
Since 2003, he is the director of the Dept. of Cardiology of the Univ. Hospital of Sabadell (Universitat Autonoma of Barcelona). Under his leadership, this department has been twice nominated one of the three best Cardiology Departments of Spain. He also teaches Cardiology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and in the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.
He has served in several scientific boards, including the Catalan Society of Cardiology or the European Commission (Brussels, Belgium) and has been President of the International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy.
Publications
He is reviewer of several scientific journals and societies. He is first-author and co-author of more than 200 and 400, respectively, publications and presentations in international congresses and international journals, monographs and textbooks.
He has given invited lectures in several countries (Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Rumania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, U.S.A., etc).
