Biography
He is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Perugia, Italy, and Scientific Director of the Italian National Institute for Cardiovascular Research (INRC) in Bologna. After graduating from the University of Naples, he worked for several years at the Division of Cardiology, Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore, first as a fellow and then as a faculty member, before returning to Italy to become Director of the Division of Cardiology at the University of Perugia School of Medicine. He also served for several years as Medical Director of the University Hospital in Perugia.
He has served as Chairman or Board Member of several Working Groups of the European Society of Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology, and the European Heart Failure Association, and sits on the editorial board of leading cardiology journals.
He has authored over 400 papers in top cardiology journals, totaling over 60,000 citations with an H-Index of 90, and has been invited to deliver over 300 lectures and seminars at international meetings.
